Sweetfern (Comptonia peregrina) is a native, nitrogen fixing shrub with incredibly aromatic foliage. The leaves resemble ferns, making sweetfern a great addition to the native landscaping pallet. They are also incredibly hardy and will tolerate all well draining soil, no matter how poor, and are very drought tolerant. The leaves can be dried and used as an aromatic herb in soups and stews. \

Mature Size: 2–4' Tall × 4–8' Wide

Sun Pref: Full sun to part shade

Soil Pref: Dry, gravelly or sandy poor acidic soil. Drought tolerant.
